Guangzhou Rucheng Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd. was established in November 2024. It is mainly engaged in the research and production of ice storage air conditioners. The company's co-founder, Dr. Dong Xingjie, graduated from the Department of Refrigeration and Low-Temperature Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has been deeply involved in the field of ice storage air conditioners for nearly 30 years, has published over 30 related papers, obtained more than 40 related patents, and has participated in over 100 large-scale ice storage air conditioning projects.
The ice storage air conditioning system utilizes the price difference between peak and off-peak electricity, storing ice at night and melting it during the day to provide cooling. This helps balance the load on the power grid and saves operating costs for air conditioning users. It is a storage technology that the country is vigorously promoting and has been well applied in hundreds of large-scale regional energy systems. However, large-scale ice storage air conditioning systems require professional design, installation and commissioning, and have a high usage threshold, which limits the technology from being adopted in small and medium-sized projects in households. Rongcheng Company is committed to commercializing the engineering products of ice storage air conditioning, reducing the user's usage threshold, and enabling the ice storage air conditioning to be plug-and-play.
Through technological development, the energy storage efficiency can be further improved. Any energy storage and release process will result in energy loss. Dr. Dong Xingjie led a research team of over ten people to develop a wind-cooled direct-expansion ice storage system. They creatively utilized the potential energy of the temperature difference between day and night, achieving an energy efficiency ratio for the ice storage air conditioner that is comparable to or even higher than that of traditional air conditioners. Laboratory tests have shown that in subtropical climate zones (with typical examples being southern China), it achieves an equivalent COP (energy efficiency ratio) to traditional air conditioners; in arid continental climate zones (with a temperature difference of ≥ 15℃), it achieves a 20% increase in COP compared to traditional air conditioners.
